Romina Kids furniture

The label for unusual kids furniture has a remarkable philosophy: the difference between something good and  something great is the attention to detail.
No other manufacturer lives this principle so consistently. This manifests itself in many furniture details.

And that is why only the best materials and techniques currently available are used for the cots and other pieces. For the manufactory, success is not just an economic measure. It is a measure of love and care and comes in many shades and shapes and with many features.

What makes Romina furniture so unique?

  1. Solid wood: Romina kids furniture and baby furniture is made of 100% solid wood - not MDF and other board materials. All products are made of wooden boards and blocks that are not chemically treated to increase internal strength and environmental compatibility. Construction frames have their own dowels in addition to adhesives and / or screws. Drawer boxes are made with wooden boards. This is because solid wood is the best choice. It contributes to the longevity and natural look. And also the indoor air of your children's room remains healthy.

  2. Dovetails and other traditional wooden joints:  The drawers are constructed with "half-blind" English dovetails. A traditional and elaborate drawer technique currently available. Drawer walls have "tails" that are housed in special sockets in the adjoining panels.

The push-fit joints are mitred at a specific angle so that all panels interlock for a better connection. This eliminates the need for additional fasteners. While this is only optional, we add our natural-based organic wood glue and a few hidden nails to make these drawer boxes durable and reduce the internal stress factor caused by the inherent expansion and contraction of wood products. This bond means longevity.

  3. Tested for harmful substances: Harmful substances are kept away from little customers. The surfaces contain no volatile organic compounds, lead, phthalates or other hard-to-pronounce chemicals are absolutely taboo. All  finishes are Greenguard GOLD certified, providing a clean and safe environment for children.
The surface of the furniture is available in two finishes, water-based and oil-based. The water-based paints have a naturally high resistance to environmental influences, resistance to scratches and sunlight. The oil-based paints are made with organic oils and plant-based colour pigments.
Water-based surface treatment and organic oil are the best choice. The surfaces are durable and safe for your children.

  4. Hydraulic drawer and door fittings/ Soft Close: wardrobes and chests of drawers are equipped with the best systems currently available in furniture manufacturing. The drawer systems are made in Germany and have a hydraulic soft close guaranteed for 80,000 cycles. That's about 73 years.
The manufacturer goes even further and integrates the latest and most efficient technologies currently available in furniture construction. This means:
    - All  (not only cots) are Greenguard GOLD certified
    - all drawers are equipped with lockers and anti-tilt systems as standard.
    - all furniture is designed to be the safest and most comfortable place for your child to sleep and grow.

  5. Full-extension drawers: The rails located under the assembly allow the drawer box to be fully extended for maximum convenience. This feature is particularly important for lower drawers where it is not necessary to reach far into the chest of drawers. A very important advantage of the bottom rails is not only the stability and maximum extension, but the drawer will never be "out of square", so sliding is smooth and easy.

  6. Individual manufacturing: Products are designed and manufactured for your own families. If it's not good for us, how could it be good for you? Romina uses a variety of technologies. But the human factor is of paramount importance in the manufacturing process, as it is no substitute. The trained eye and the skilful hand is always the best tool to judge a natural product with internal deviations and imperfections. The selection of the wood is done by hand, which becomes a ceiling or a drawer.
Each piece of furniture is checked by hand - for the most important customer, your family.

  7.  Removable drawers.  The drawer boxes are equipped with a special rear locking hook by which the sliding element placed under the support secures the drawer and prevents it from tilting in a vertical plane. This feature is especially important for children who are natural adventurers and it is not a question of "if" but "when" they try to climb on the furniture. Knowing that your drawers can't come loose and fall over to avoid injury means peace of mind and safety at work.

Romina stands for sustainability and conservation
Baby furniture comes in many designs, shapes and colours. Your baby's cradle is its first home. Yes, it should look good, but it is especially important to pay attention to what is inside the furniture.

The pursuit of perfection goes beyond appearance, durability and functionality. That's why this philosophy begins even before the manufacturing process. Only the healthiest materials that Mother Nature has to offer are carefully selected.  There is no better formula for a healthy product other than the selection of healthy ingredients. So, it is rather elementary that the person who wants to determine the product quality does not have to look further for what the product is made of.

You will be amazed at what Romina furniture is made of. Health is the kind of commodity that you will only appreciate if you don't have it to provide the best environment for your child and family.

  • Greenguard Gold Standard: Exposure to toxic chemicals occurs for the most part not through direct contact, but through inhalation of contaminated air. This is because the chemical pollutants come from materials used in everyday products that we use or consume.
Some harmful components are present throughout the air due to industrial activities or transport. However, studies have shown that indoor air is two to five times more polluted than the outdoor environment. Since most people spend much of their time indoors, especially children and infants, it is very important to ensure that furniture does not have toxic emissions.

All Romina baby beds and chests of drawers are GREENGUARD Gold certified and periodically tested in a closed chamber where the air quality and its chemical composition are analysed. This standard and its rigorous testing procedure exceed all mandatory testing procedures, including ASTM, California Proposition 65 and CPSC 16CFR1219.

  • Solid wood:  All Romina furniture is made of 100% solid wood. Beech trees are harvested in compliance with environmental regulations and with special attention to renewal and preservation of the natural balance. The wood is then processed by experienced mill workers to maximise the wood mass of each tree trunk.

Wood panels do not undergo chemical steaming and drying techniques to reduce moisture content and prepare them for the manufacturing process. The numerous steam and drying stages give the wood grain strength and resilience, just as fire strengthens steel. The wood then goes through many mechanical transformations where boards are calibrated, grain patterns assessed and graded to enter the cutting department without the use of chemicals.

There is no chipboard, MDF or other types of wood-based materials used in the manufacture of the furniture, so nothing "unnatural" is added to the wood structure. All the wood comes from nature and is given to nature's most precious creation: your baby.

  • Natural finishes:  All Romina furniture is finished with paints that contain ZERO components that may be toxic to an infant or adult. All surfaces have organic components and pigments. Because all furniture is finished the old fashioned way, no solvents or other chemicals are needed to cure the final lacquer.

Three finish categories are used for Romina products: Water-based paints and clear and organic oil-based washes. All  finishes exceed Consumer Product Safety Commission standards and are also GREENGUARD certified and regularly tested by UL Independent Laboratories.
Phthalates, formaldehyde, lead or other VOCs are not found in the furniture. Water-based lacquers do not require "curing", so there are no off-gassing or toxic odours when the furniture is new.

  • Organic wood glues:  the glue used to make drawer boxes, wooden boards, convertible cots, classic cots and any other goods where glue is required as a fastener is organic and non-toxic.
Unlike most other adhesives, the wood glue contains no artificial binders or benzene-based solvents, no VOCs and no formaldehyde. The base material is harvested from certain tree species where the binding coefficient is superior (generally resinous species). It then undergoes several thermal processes in which it is diluted, condensed and then liquefied.
Organic adhesives have shown superior bond strength and are less susceptible to environmental conditions compared to synthetic adhesives.
