We spend a large part of our lives on mattresses. With children, the time is even longer. Children sleep more and a good night's sleep is essential for healthy development. Accordingly, the right choice of a good mattress for children's beds is important.

In which sizes are cot mattresses available?
The sizes of the Mattress are standardised. This means that the respective standard size always fits a toddler bed - even if it comes from a different manufacturer. So you do not necessarily have to buy a mattress and a bed from the same manufacturer. This results in the following standard dimensions for the toddler mattress:

• 70 x 140 cot mattresses: This is the larger baby cot option. These cots are usually convertible and, due to their size, can of course be used for a longer period of time. In the field of baby furniture, this size belongs to the most sold.
   
• 90 x 200 kids mattresses: This is the most common measurement for children's beds. Almost all manufacturers offer their beds in this mattress size. It also includes junior beds and beds for adults. 

There are also a number of other sizes, but these do not play a major role, or correspond to beds whose size is not so popular. These come into play with special sizes or, for example, with double beds.

What other measurements must be taken into account?
In addition to the actual size or area, the thickness of the cot mattress is of course decisive. Because this decides how high the lying surface is. This is an important factor for half-height or high beds. With certain bed constructions, it is also important how high the sides of the bed are. This results in a required mattress thickness so that the edge protrudes.
Then there is the special case of bed drawers if they are used as a guest bed. Because here the height is important so that the bed drawer can be moved under the bed without any problems.

Manufacturers of toddler bed mattresses
Many of the manufacturers who specialise in high-quality kids furniture and cots now also offer mattresses for cots. As mentioned above, this circumstance only serves to provide a full and rounded assortment. As far as size is concerned, mattresses from all other manufacturers would also fit because the dimensions are standardised.
But of course there are also brands that specialise in high-quality children's mattresses. These include, for example, Träumeland Mattress or Dormiente children's mattresses. Both labels place the highest value on the selection of raw materials, as well as sustainable production.

When buying the right mattress, several features come into play. The immediate proximity and duration make the right choice of materials essential. Natural raw materials and, above all, testing for harmful substances are virtually without alternative. Further standards are sufficient ventilation, the regulation of moisture and, if required, the anti-allergic effect.
